Regular Season Round 7: Neuchatel - Starwings 86-84

Round 7 in LNA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Neuchatel where host Neuchatel (5-2) edged league's leader Starwings (4-3) 86-84 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Starwings. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 26-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Neuchatel outrebounded Starwings 45-25 including 17 on the offensive glass. Senegalese power forward Pape Badji (208-92) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Serbian forward Ivan Kuburovic (202-81) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Neuchatel players scored in double figures. American guard Kaylon Williams (190-89, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) produced 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import swingman Riley Luettgerodt (196-85, college: Hawaii) added 22 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Neuchatel keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Fribourg and Geneve Lions. Starwings at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Lugano Tigers. They were replaced at the leadership position by Fribourg. Starwings will play next round against Monthey trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Neuchatel will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Boncourt at home.
