A very interesting game took place in Irkutsk. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 15th ranked Irkut Irkutsk (1-5) to sixth ranked Ryazan (4-2) 85-84 on Monday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Ryazan shot 26 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Irkut Irkutsk only scored eight points from the stripe. 28 personal fouls committed by Irkut Irkutsk helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Iliya Syrovatko (193-88) saved the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. Center Aleksey Karpeko (204-89) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Ryazan players scored in double figures. Andrey Kuzmenkin replied with 26 points and 6 assists and swingman Pavel Zakamov (192-80, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 26 points in the effort for Irkut Irkutsk. Irkut Irkutsk's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ryazan moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Irkut Irkutsk at the other side dropped to the fourteenth position with five games lost. Ryazan's next round opponent will be Spartak-Prim. (#10) in Vladivostok and are hoping to win another game. Irkut Irkutsk will play at home against Dynamo Moscow (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
