Regular Season Round 9: MBA-Runa - Sogdiana-Skif 57-79

Leader Sogdiana-Skif delivered the seventh win on Thursday night. This time they crushed 7th ranked MBA-Runa (3-5) 79-57 in Moscow. Sogdiana-Skif dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to MBA-Runa's 20. Sogdiana-Skif forced 22 MBA-Runa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized Kazakhstan forward Nail Gafarov (198-88) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Center Yuriy Kochnev (209-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Sogdiana-Skif players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Andrey Lysenkov (189-92) who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds and forward Viktor Pavlenko (198-92, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 7 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sogdiana-Skif maintains first place in League with 7-1 record. Newly promoted MBA-Runa keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Sogdiana-Skif are looking forward to face league's second-placed Dynamo-CBK in Stavropol in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. MBA-Runa will play on the road against Tambov (#4) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
