We should mention about the upset which took place in Stavropol, where one of their biggest challengers Neftyanik (4-7) lost to ninth ranked Stavropol (3-4) in a road game 78-82. Stavropol made 26-of-34 charity shots (76.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Neftyanik turnovers. 31 personal fouls committed by Neftyanik helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by power forward Natalja Gvozdeva (188-77) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Irina Alekhina (182-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) supported her with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Five Stavropol players scored in double figures. Even 31 points and 5 steals by Elena Elgina did not help to save the game for Neftyanik.
