Regular Season Round 17: Alma-Ata - Ryazan 72-90

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Alma-Ata (1-11) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Ryazan (8-5) 90-72. Ryazan shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Guard Dramir Zibirov (187-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 7 assists. Center Pavel Spiridonov (207-90) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Ryazan players scored in double figures. Power forward Mikhail Evstigneev (202-84) answered with 18 points and center Vsevolod Fadeikin (206-85) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Alma-Ata. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ryazan moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Novosybirsk and Rossiya Novog. Alma-Ata lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
