Regular Season Round 14: Sopron KC - MAFC 97-83

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Sopron KC as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Sopron KC defeated 9th ranked MAFC at home 97-83. The game was mostly controlled by Sopron KC. MAFC managed to win third quarter 35-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was international point guard Dontay Thomas (187-84, college: La Salle) who scored 28 points. The former international Gergely Toth (206-89, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Sopron KC players scored in double figures. American guard Parrish Brown (185-84, college: Maryland) produced 24 points and 4 assists and guard Zsolt Lakosa (194-91, college: MidAmerica Naz.) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. MAFC's coach Stefan Timbus rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sopron KC (11-1) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with KTE-Duna Aszfalt. Newly promoted MAFC dropped to the tenth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Marso NYKK. MAFC will play next round against Kaposvari trying to get back on the winning streak. Sopron KC will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Szedeak in Szeged.
