Regular Season Round 11: UNI Gyor - Atomeromu 98-67
Date: January 7, 2015
No shocking result in a game when second ranked UNI Gyor (8-2) crushed at home 7th ranked Atomeromu (3-6) 98-67 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by UNI Gyor. Atomeromu managed to win third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UNI Gyor dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Atomeromu's 28 and made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. UNI Gyor forced 24 Atomeromu turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Atomeromu's players. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian point guard Tamara Radocaj (170-87, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Anna Vajda (191-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 20 points for the winning side. Four UNI Gyor players scored in double figures. Guard Agnes Studer (169-98) came up with 21 points and 4 steals and swingman Alexandra Theodorean (177-91) added 18 points and 4 steals respectively for Atomeromu in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for UNI Gyor. They maintain second place with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader UNIQA Eurol. Atomeromu at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. UNI Gyor will meet at home PEAC-Pecs (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Atomeromu will play against Miskolc (#5) and hope to secure a win.
