Very expected game when 7th ranked Massagno (3-12) was defeated on the road by second ranked Neuchatel (11-4) 80-66 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 50-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Neuchatel made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Senegalese power forward Babacar Toure (205-85) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 6 blocks (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). Senegalese power forward Pape Badji (208-92) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Four Neuchatel players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Tony Brown (193-79, college: Arkansas St.) who recorded 19 points and 5 assists and the other American import center Josh Hairston (203-92, college: Duke) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Neuchatel. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Lugano Tigers and Geneve Lions. Massagno lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost. Neuchatel will meet at home Monthey (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Massagno will play against Geneve Lions and hope to secure a win.
