Regular Season Round 13: MTK - ZTE NKK 70-79

There was no surprise in Budapest where 9th ranked MTK (2-10) was defeated by sixth ranked ZTE NKK (5-6) 79-70 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-70. ZTE NKK made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. International forward Dorina Zele (185-92) stepped up and scored 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and guard Csilla Darida (175-78) chipped in 13 points. Four ZTE NKK players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Dora Medgyessy (174-86) responded with 15 points and 9 assists and the former international power forward Nikoletta Turoczi (187-80) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. MTK's coach Stevan Cupic tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. ZTE NKK maintains sixth place with 5-6 record. Loser MTK keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. ZTE NKK will meet at home Cegledi EKK (#7) in the next round. MTK will play against the league's second-placed UNI Gyor and hope to secure a win.
