Very important is a home loss of second ranked Samara-SGEU (12-5) against fourth ranked Novosybirsk (12-5) on Monday night. Host Samara-SGEU was defeated by Novosybirsk in Samara 90-80. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Samara-SGEU. They outrebounded Samara-SGEU 42-25 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Samara-SGEU was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Croatian power forward Jure Skific (202-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Pavel Aleksandrov (193-89) contributed with 24 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Novosybirsk players scored in double figures. Swingman Alexander Knyazyuk (197-91, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) replied with 17 points and point guard Alexandr Varnakov (185-92) added 8 points, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Samara-SGEU. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Novosybirsk have a solid four-game winning streak.
