Seventh-ranked Neftekhimik T. (9-15) made lots of trouble for second ranked Sojuz Zaretchny (18-4). Sojuz Zaretchny managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected much easier game. Sojuz Zaretchny outrebounded Neftekhimik T. 38-26 including 23 on the defensive glass. Forward Petr Shapovalov (203-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Vladimir Chichaykin (188-91) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Sojuz Zaretchny's coach Aleksandr Drankov allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Denis Smetanin (200-88) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds and forward Sergey Markelov (198-84) added 18 points in the effort for Neftekhimik T.Sojuz Zaretchny maintains second position in League with 18-4 record behind leader Cheliabinsk. Neftekhimik T. at the other side keeps the seventh place with 15 games lost. Sojuz Zaretchny will play against BK 1716 (#9) in Omsk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Neftekhimik T. will play on the road against the league's leader Tambov and hopes to get back on the winning track.
