Regular Season Round 21: PVSK Pannon - Kormend 101-78

Very expected game when 9th ranked Kormend (7-12) was smashed by fifth ranked PVSK Pannon (12-7) in Pecs 101-78. The game was mostly controlled by PVSK Pannon. Kormend was better in third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. PVSK Pannon dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Kormend's 22. PVSK Pannon had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American guard Anthony Nelson (185-89, college: Niagara) stepped up and scored 17 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Croatian forward Veljko Budimir (199-85) chipped in 21 points. PVSK Pannon's coach Ferenc Csirke felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was British power forward Ryan Richards (212-91, agency: Three Eye Sports) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard Will Walker (183-87, college: De Paul) scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for PVSK Pannon. They maintain fifth place with 12-7 record. Kormend at the other side keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. PVSK Pannon will play against higher ranked Falco KC (#4) in Szombathely in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kormend will play at home against the league's second-placed Sopron KC (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
