Regular Season Round 31: Ryazan - Alma-Ata 102-53

The game between eighth ranked Ryazan (13-8) and 16th ranked Alma-Ata (2-18) in Ryazan on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Ryazan outscored guests from Alma-Ata 102-53. Ryazan dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Alma-Ata's 42. Ryazan forced 21 Alma-Ata turnovers and outrebounded them 40-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Alma-Ata's players. It was a very good performance for center Aleksey Karpeko (204-89) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Swingman Grigoriy Andreev (193-90) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Five Ryazan players scored in double figures. Forward Pavel Mikheev (201-83) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Uzbekistani center Dmitry Sviridov (212-85) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Alma-Ata. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ryazan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Dynamo MO. Alma-Ata lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 18 lost games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
