The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Neftyanik's (14-16) home victory over 9th ranked Stavropol (5-20) in Omsk 64-49 on Thursday. Neftyanik dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Stavropol's 24. Neftyanik forced 32 Stavropol turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Yana Matveeva (186-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Anastasia Maksimova (182-92, agency: IPSA) contributed with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Guard Polina Kozlova (175-88) answered with 10 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Natalja Gvozdeva (188-77) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Stavropol. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Neftyanik have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with MBA-Dynamo. Stavropol lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 20 games lost. Neftyanik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Stavropol will play at home against Samara (#5) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
