The most exciting game of round 33 in the Higher League took place in Saransk. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-best Ruskon-Mordovia (22-6) to third ranked Stroitiel Engels (21-7) 76-73 on Friday evening. Strangely Ruskon-Mordovia outrebounded Stroitiel Engels 49-37 including 20 on the offensive glass. 31 personal fouls committed by Ruskon-Mordovia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Alexei Kotishevskiy (197-85) who scored 32 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Pavel Zhukanenko (194-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Stroitiel Engels players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Roman Semerninov (200-81) who recorded 7 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and center Vladimir Lidyaev (201-87) added 15 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Stroitiel Engels maintains third place in League with 21-7 record having just two points less than leader Sojuz Zaretchny. Ruskon-Mordovia at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Stroitiel Engels are looking forward to face Cheboksari (#5) on the road in the next round. Ruskon-Mordovia will play against Samara-2 and is hoping to win this game.
