The game between second ranked Samara-SGEU (15-8) and eighth ranked Ryazan (14-9) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Samara-SGEU was defeated by Ryazan in Samara 59-71. Center Maksim Polyakov (206-84, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 5 rebounds. Belarusian Aliaksei Trastsinetski (200-86) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Ryazan players scored in double figures. Center Alexey Kurtsevich (210-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Alexandr Varnakov (185-92) added 15 points and 4 assists in the effort for Samara-SGEU. Samara-SGEU's coach Sergei Zozulin rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Ryazan moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Dynamo MO. Samara-SGEU at the other side dropped to the third position with eight games lost. They share it with TEMP-SUMZ. Ryazan is looking forward to face higher ranked Novosybirsk (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Samara-SGEU will play against Alma-Ata and is hoping to win this game.
