Very important is a road loss of second ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (15-8) against thirteenth ranked Irkut Irkutsk (9-15) on Friday night. Visiting Ural Ekaterinburg was defeated by Irkut Irkutsk in Irkutsk 75-63. Irkut Irkutsk held Ural Ekaterinburg to an opponent 22.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Strangely Ural Ekaterinburg outrebounded Irkut Irkutsk 51-38 including a 29-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Andrey Kuzmenkin who scored that evening 19 points and 7 rebounds and center Evgeniy Kalinin (210-87) supported him with 14 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Even a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds by naturalized Uzbekistani center Sergey Karaulov (212-82) did not help to save the game for Ural Ekaterinburg. Forward Stanislav Sotnikov (200-85, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 8 points and 13 rebounds. Ural Ekaterinburg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Irkut Irkutsk moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with AltajBasket. Ural Ekaterinburg at the other side dropped to the third position with eight games lost. Irkut Irkutsk will play against higher ranked TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Ural Ekaterinburg will play against Spartak-Prim. in Vladivostok and hopes to get back on the winning track.
