Another interesting game for Neuchatel (1-2) which played on the court of Monthey (0-3). Neuchatel had an easy win 89-71. The game was mostly controlled by Neuchatel. Monthey was better in fourth quarter 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Neuchatel players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a great evening for Senegalese power forward Babacar Toure (205-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Quinton Day (185-84, college: UMKC) helped adding 20 points. Neuchatel's coach Emmanuel Schmitt allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Cory Johnson (200-88, college: Valparaiso) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Westher Molteni (200-87) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Neuchatel will play against Starwings (#5) in Basel in the next round. Monthey will play on the road against Geneve Lions and hopes to get finally their first victory.
