Very predictable result when sixth ranked Ural Ekaterinburg (16-9) rolled over on the road bottom-ranked Alma-Ata (2-22) 88-68. They outrebounded Alma-Ata 44-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. Ural Ekaterinburg players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Point guard Maxim Tkachenko (185-92, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 22 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Uzbekistani center Sergey Karaulov (212-82) chipped in 11 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Kazakhstan Maxim Voyeykov (196-88) responded with 12 points and Uzbekistani center Dmitry Sviridov (212-85) scored 11 points. Four Alma-Ata players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ural Ekaterinburg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with TEMP-SUMZ. Alma-Ata lost eleventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 22 lost games. Ural Ekaterinburg will play against Khimky-Podmoskoye (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alma-Ata will play against TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
