Second Stage Round 7: Lugano Tigers - Starwings 77-79

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Lugano Tigers (5-2) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked Starwings (4-3) 79-77. Lugano Tigers were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for forward Durell Vinson (201-85, college: Wagner) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Kaylon Williams (190-89, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) helped adding 14 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Five Starwings players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Antonio Ballard (193-88, college: Miami, OH) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Rickey Gibson (192-84, college: Stillman) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Starwings have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Defending champion Lugano Tigers still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Geneve Lions. Starwings are looking forward to face Fribourg (#4) at home in the next round. Lugano Tigers will play against the league's second-placed Geneve Lions and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
