Second Stage Round 6: Kormend - PVSK Pannon 66-78

There was no surprise when 4th ranked Kormend (13-6) lost at home to second ranked PVSK Pannon (16-14) 78-66 on Wednesday. Kormend was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 28-13 charge of PVSK Pannon, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Kormend's 26. It was a good game for American guard Anthony Nelson (185-89, college: Niagara) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Croatian forward Veljko Budimir (199-85) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. The former international power forward Norbert Toth (205-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and American point guard Will Walker (183-87, college: De Paul, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points in the effort for Kormend. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. PVSK Pannon maintains second position in Division with 16-14 record behind leader Falco KC. Loser Kormend dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. PVSK Pannon will face league's leader Falco KC in Szombathely in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kormend will play on the road against Szedeak (#3) in Szeged and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
