We should mention about the upset which took place in Ekaterinburg, where Khimky-Podmoskoye (0-2) was outleveled in a road game by Ural Ekaterinburg (1-1) 72-37. Ural Ekaterinburg held Khimky-Podmoskoye to an opponent 21.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 55.6 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Khimky-Podmoskoye 41-19 including a 30-8 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Andrei Kuzemkin (186-87, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) notched 24 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and center Daniil Solovev (210-87) supported him with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Even 9 points by forward Denis Levshin (202-93) did not help to save the game for Khimky-Podmoskoye. Center Yuriy Kochnev (209-89) added 6 points for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Ural Ekaterinburg's next round opponent will be TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#6) on the road. Khimky-Podmoskoye will play against Novosybirsk (#1) and hope to win that game.
