Regular Season Round 9: Rostov - Samara 79-81

Important game to mention about took place in Rostov. Leader Samara (5-0) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked BC Rostov (2-5) 81-79 on Monday evening. Samara forced 24 BC Rostov turnovers. It was a good game for point guard Elena Melnikova (175-88, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with 22 points. Forward Marina Sheveleva (184-89) contributed with 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Anastasia Maksimova (182-92, agency: IPSA) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and forward Yana Kotova (186-88) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for BC Rostov. Four BC Rostov players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Samara have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. BC Rostov lost third consecutive game. BC Rostov at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Samara will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BC Rostov will play again at home against the league's second-placed Samara (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
