Important game to mention about took place in Stavropol. Second ranked Samara (7-1) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Stavropol (3-7) 80-78 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Samara made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Samara especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 68.8 percentage. It was a good game for forward Olga Ovcharenko (185-79) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Ekaterina Ekaterina (182-91) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Natalja Gvozdeva (191-77) replied with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks and guard Svetlana Kuznetsova (174-75) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Stavropol. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Samara maintains second position with 7-1 record behind leader Dynamo-2 K. Stavropol lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with seven games lost. Samara will play against bottom-ranked Sparta&K-2 V (#10) in Vidnoye in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Stavropol will have a break next round.
