Regular Season Round 8: Irkutsk - Univ.Surgut 74-78

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Universitet-Yugra and 11th ranked Irkut Irkutsk had identical 2-4 record. But Irkut Irkutsk was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Surgut 78-74 on Tuesday night. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian Nikola Lepojevic (195-82, agency: BeoExcell) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Aleksandr Pushkin (202-87) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Power forward Andrey Chernysh (212-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and guard Viktor Kashin (193-94) scored 20 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Universitet-Yugra went down to eighth position due to points difference. Loser Irkut Irkutsk keeps the eleventh place with five games lost. Universitet-Yugra will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Irkut Irkutsk will play against TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#6) and hope to secure a win.
