Regular Season Round 11: Magnitka-Univ. - Kirov 72-76

Bottom-ranked Magnitka-Univ. (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 76-72 loss to third ranked Kirov (7-5) in Magnitogorsk on Sunday evening. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kirov made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for Nikita Burkov who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Pavel Moshkovskiy (200-91) helped adding 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Kirov players scored in double figures. Swingman Yegor Tikanov (194-92) responded with 17 points and Alexey Chupin (200-96) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Magnitka-Univ.'s coach Artur Bigeev tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Kirov maintains third place with 7-5 record behind leader Dynamo-MGTU. Magnitka-Univ. lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost. Kirov will meet Stary Sobol NT (#7) in the next round. Magnitka-Univ. will play against Tegas DR and hopes to get finally their first victory.
