Regular Season Round 16: Cheboksari - Arsenal 75-77

The most exciting game of round 16 in the Superleague B took place in Cheboksari. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of higher ranked Cheboksari (8-6) to eighth ranked Arsenal (6-10) 77-75 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cheboksari. Arsenal forced 19 Cheboksari turnovers. Strangely Cheboksari outrebounded Arsenal 46-24 including a 23-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Roman Korchaga (190-92, agency: Interperformances) fired 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Viktor Uskov (183-86) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Center Anton Lanchakov (205-85) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and forward Nikolay Dolmatov (202-88) added 10 points respectively for lost side. Cheboksari's coach Sergei Hudaev tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Arsenal moved-up to seventh place. Cheboksari at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Arsenal are looking forward to face league's leader Ruskon-Mordovia in Saransk in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cheboksari will play at home against Dynamo-CBK and is hoping to win this game.
