Regular Season Round 24: Jaroslav - AltajBasket 86-64

Very important is a road loss of second ranked AltajBasket (17-4) against seventh ranked Jaroslav (9-13) on Sunday night. Visiting AltajBasket was crushed by Jaroslav in Jaroslav 86-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AltajBasket. They outrebounded AltajBasket 39-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Jaroslav especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. AltajBasket was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Alexander Fomin (206-86, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Igor Sukhinin (188-81) who added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Five Jaroslav players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Ilia Aleksandrov (194-81) with 22 points and 5 rebounds and forward Konstantin Novikov (202-87) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Jaroslav maintains seventh position with 9-13 record, which they share with Arsenal. AltajBasket at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost. Jaroslav will play against higher ranked Cheliabinsk (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. AltajBasket will play against Spartak St.Petersburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
