Regular Season Round 18: Sogdiana-Skif - Kirov 71-74

The biggest surprise of round 18 in Superleague 3 was guest Kirov's (#4) road victory over Sogdiana-Skif (#5) 74-71 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Sogdiana-Skif. Kirov dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sogdiana-Skif's 36. They outrebounded Sogdiana-Skif 45-32 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Anatoliy Goritskov (211-83, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Nikita Burkov chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Five Kirov players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Dmitriy Prikhodko (185-92) who recorded 18 points and 7 assists and guard Aleksey Almushev (198-90) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Sogdiana-Skif's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Kirov maintains fourth position with 11-9 record. Sogdiana-Skif at the other side keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Kirov are looking forward to face Elbrus Cherk. (#7) in Cherkessk in the next round. Sogdiana-Skif will have a break next round.
