Regular Season Round 15: MAFC - ZTE KK 82-85

Everything went according to plan in Budapest where third ranked ZTE KK (11-4) edged 13th ranked MAFC (3-11) 85-82 on Saturday. MAFC trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 30-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 82-85 at the end of the game. ZTE KK dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to MAFC's 30. They outrebounded MAFC 42-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Darrin Govens (185-88, college: St.Joseph's) who scored 31 points and 4 assists. Serbian power forward Djordje Pantelic (204-84, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. ZTE KK's coach Tamas Bencze used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Indian-Canadian forward Robbie Sihota (201-87) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Deville Smith (183-91, college: Tenn-Martin) added 18 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ZTE KK have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Szolnok. MAFC lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. ZTE KK will face Kaposvari (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. MAFC will play against Alba and hope to win that game.
