Regular Season Round 15: Alba - Kormend 88-72

Date: January 23, 2016
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Szekesfehervar where fifth ranked Alba (10-5) defeated 4th placed Kormend (10-5) 88-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Alba. Kormend was better in third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Alba outrebounded Kormend 41-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. Kormend was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Canadian point guard Kenny Chery (180-92, college: Baylor) who scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Ryan Pearson (198-90, college: George Mason, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Alba players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Norbert Toth (205-86) who recorded 15 points and Dutch-Australian power forward Josh Duinker (209-89, college: Richmond) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alba moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Kormend and Sopron KC. Alba will face MAFC (#13) in Budapest in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kormend will play on the road against KTE-Duna Aszfalt (#11) in Kecskemet and hope to win that game.
