Regular Season Round 15: Sopron KC - Szolnok 88-76

There was an upset when second-best Szolnok (11-4) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Sopron KC (10-5) 88-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Sopron KC. Szolnok was better in fourth quarter 26-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Szolnok only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Szolnok 37-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Canadian point guard Hernst Laroche (185-89, college: N.Mexico St., agency: HMS) who scored 30 points and 4 steals. American swingman Kevin Tiggs (196-84, college: E.Tenn.St.) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was international swingman David Vojvoda (196-90) who recorded 28 points and American point guard Stanley Burrell (191-84, agency: Alti Sport) added 14 points respectively. Szolnok's coach Peter Por rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sopron KC have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Kormend and Alba. Defending champion Szolnok keeps the second position with four games lost. Sopron KC will face Falco KC (#7) in Szombathely in the next round. Szolnok will play at home against the league's leader Atomeromu (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
