The game in Lancy supposed to be also quite interesting. Seventh ranked Winterthur (2-10) played at the court of 8th ranked Lancy (1-12). Winterthur smashed Lancy 87-64 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 23 points. Winterthur dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Lancy's 26. Winterthur forced 30 Lancy turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Nikki Dixon (178-24, college: Clemson) who scored 48 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. The other American import guard Heidi Anton (175-90, college: USF) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Winterthur's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Toia Giggetts (183-92, college: JMU) who recorded 16 points and 9 rebounds and forward Merhawit Teame (178-92) added 13 points respectively. Newly promoted Winterthur maintains seventh position with 2-10 record. Lancy at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Winterthur will meet at home higher ranked Riva (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lancy will play against the league's second-placed Helios (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
