Regular Season Round 27: Spartak SP - Arsenal 73-58

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Arsenal (9-16) was defeated on the road by third ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (16-9) 73-58 on Tuesday. It was a great evening for forward Andrey Semenov (201-90, college: JMU) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points. International power forward Artem Pisarchuk (205-92, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) helped adding 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Spartak St.Petersburg players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Viktor Uskov (183-86) with 16 points and 5 assists and Stanislav Dubinin (198-90) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Spartak St.Petersburg. They maintain third place with 16-9 record having three points less than leader Ruskon-Mord. Arsenal lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Tambov. Spartak St.Petersburg will again meet at home Arsenal (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Arsenal will have a break next round.
