Regular Season Round 18: Sakhalin - Izhevsk 117-72

Superleague 1 top team - Sakhalin (13-2) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Izhevsk (2-12) in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk 117-72. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Izhevsk's 36 and made 29-of-33 free shots (87.9 percent) during the game, while Izhevsk only scored twelve points from the stripe. Sakhalin forced 27 Izhevsk turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Izhevsk's players. Alexey Nesterov (204-88) notched 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and international forward Andrey Zverkov (199-94) supported him with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Five Sakhalin players scored in double figures. Sakhalin's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 27 points by point guard Ilya Podobedov (184-91) did not help to save the game for Izhevsk. Power forward Aleksey Tsvetkov (207-84) added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Newly promoted Sakhalin maintains first position with 13-2 record. Izhevsk lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Sakhalin will meet at home Parma (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Izhevsk will play against Spartak-Prim. (#8) in Vladivostok and hope to secure a win.
