Very expected game when 14th ranked Jaszberenyi (2-15) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Kormend (11-6) 77-68 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 24-7 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Kormend dominated on the defensive end, holding Jaszberenyi to just 7 points in third quarter. They also forced 19 Jaszberenyi turnovers and outrebounded them 54-34 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. American point guard Wesley Channels (190-88, college: Austin Peay St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international power forward Norbert Toth (205-86) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds. Five Kormend players scored in double figures. American point guard Travis Cohn (188-89, college: Jacksonville) responded with 26 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals and the other American import center Garrick Sherman (210-90, college: Notre Dame) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds. Kormend maintains sixth place with 11-6 record. Jaszberenyi at the other side stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Kormend are looking forward to face higher ranked Sopron KC (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jaszberenyi will play against KTE-Duna Aszfalt (#10) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
