The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Stavropol's (10-17) road victory over 9th ranked Sparta&K-2 V (6-17) in Vidnoye 70-65 on Monday. Stavropol forced 25 Sparta&K-2 V turnovers. Strangely Sparta&K-2 V outrebounded Stavropol 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Natalja Gvozdeva (191-77) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Svetlana Kuznetsova (174-75) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Four Stavropol players scored in double figures. Center Kseniia Nesterova (193-98) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and center Anastasiya Kirillova (184-98) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Sparta&K-2 V in the defeat. Sparta&K-2 V's coach Sergey Dalinin tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Stavropol maintains eighth place with 10-17 record. Loser Sparta&K-2 V keeps the ninth position with 17 games lost. Stavropol will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sparta&K-2 V will play again against Stavropol (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
