Regular Season Round 21: Novosybirsk - Samara-SGEU 71-69

The most exciting game of round 21 in the Superleague 1 took place in Novosybirsk. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Samara-SGEU (10-6) to second ranked Novosybirsk (12-5) 71-69 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Samara-SGEU. Novosybirsk forced 19 Samara-SGEU turnovers. Strangely Samara-SGEU outrebounded Novosybirsk 42-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for guard Sergey Tokarev (190-85) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 4 assists. Center Alexey Kurtsevich (210-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Novosybirsk players scored in double figures. Power forward Sergey Toropov (206-89) answered with 7 points and 10 rebounds and Ukrainian center Ievgen Minchenko (212-94) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Samara-SGEU. Samara-SGEU's coach Sergei Zozulin rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Novosybirsk maintains second place with 12-5 record having just three points less than leader Sakhalin. Samara-SGEU at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with TEMP-SUMZ. Novosybirsk are looking forward to face Parma (#8) in Perm in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Samara-SGEU will play at home against Ural Ekaterinburg (#10) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
