Rather expected game when 8th ranked Magnitka-Univ. (5-19) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Kirov (14-10) 77-67 on Friday. Kirov dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Magnitka-Univ.'s 24. Nikita Burkov scored 20 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Dmitriy Kovyazin chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Four Kirov players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Yegor Tikanov (194-92) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and forward Artem Kurinnoy (202-82) scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Kirov have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Kirov maintains fifth position with 14-10 record. Magnitka-Univ. lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 19 games lost. Kirov will face Stary Sobol NT (#6) in Nizhny Tagil in the next round. Magnitka-Univ. will play on the road against Tegas DR in Dinskoy Rayon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
