Regular Season Round 19: MAFC - Szolnok 69-75

Not a big story in a game in Budapest where 13th ranked MAFC (5-14) was defeated by second ranked Szolnok (14-4) 75-69. It looked good early as MAFC took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Szolnok had a 18-15 second period charge getting the lead and MAFC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-75. They outrebounded MAFC 45-28 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for international swingman David Vojvoda (196-90) who led the winners and scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Montenegrin swingman Milos Borisov (201-85) accounted for 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Indian-Canadian forward Robbie Sihota (201-87) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard Deville Smith (183-91, college: Tenn-Martin) added 21 points and 7 assists respectively for MAFC in the defeat. Four MAFC players scored in double figures. Szolnok have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 14-4 record behind leader Atomeromu. MAFC at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Szolnok's next round opponent will be ZTE KK (#3) in Zalaegerszeg, which may be the game of the day. MAFC will play on the road against Falco KC (#7) in Szombathely and hope to win that game.
