PBL top team - UMMC Ekaterinburg (17-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Energy Ivanovo (2-15) 105-50. UMMC Ekaterinburg dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Energy Ivanovo's 24. UMMC Ekaterinburg forced 20 Energy Ivanovo turnovers and outrebounded them 39-26 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for UMMC Ekaterinburg especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Energy Ivanovo's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when UMMC Ekaterinburg made 9 blocks. International center Natalia Vieru (196-89) scored 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Olga Arteshina (188-82) chipped in 13 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Five UMMC Ekaterinburg players scored in double figures. UMMC Ekaterinburg's coach Olaf Lange felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Alexandra Marchenkova (182-94) with 22 points and 6 rebounds and guard Elena Vorozhtsova (176-83) scored 3 points and 10 rebounds. UMMC Ekaterinburg have an impressive 17-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-0 record. Energy Ivanovo lost twelfth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 15 games lost. UMMC Ekaterinburg are looking forward to face Vologda-Chevakata (#5) on the road in the next round. Energy Ivanovo will play against Spartak Vidnoye (#3) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
