Regular Season Round 23: Elbrus Cherk. - Neftekhimik T. 82-79

The most exciting game of round 23 in the Superleague 3 took place in Cherkessk. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Neftekhimik T. (18-6) to eighth ranked Elbrus Cherk. (8-14) 82-79 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Neftekhimik T.. Elbrus Cherk. forced 22 Neftekhimik T. turnovers. It was a great evening for center Pavel Dushenkov (206-93, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Roman Bazhunaishvili (199-90) helped adding 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Maksim Baranov (192-82) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and center Mikhail Kautin (214-86) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Neftekhimik T. players scored in double figures. Neftekhimik T.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Elbrus Cherk. moved-up to seventh place. Neftekhimik T. at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Elbrus Cherk. are looking forward to face higher ranked Stary Sobol NT (#6) in Nizhny Tagil in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Neftekhimik T. will play at home against Rusichi K. (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
