Regular Season Round 24: Samara-SGEU - Spartak-Prim. 64-63

Eighth-ranked Spartak-Prim. (9-10) was very close to win a game against third ranked Samara-SGEU (13-6) on Saturday. Samara-SGEU managed to secure only one-point victory 64-63. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Spartak-Prim.. They outrebounded Spartak-Prim. 43-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Spartak-Prim. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for power forward Maxim Krivosheev (207-88) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Alexandr Varnakov (185-92) contributed with 8 points and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Alexander Korchagin (188-88, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) replied with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and forward Pavel Aghapov (203-86) added 11 points in the effort for Spartak-Prim.Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Samara-SGEU have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-6 record having four points less than leader Sakhalin. Spartak-Prim. at the other side keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Samara-SGEU are looking forward to face league's leader Sakhalin in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Spartak-Prim. will play on the road against Khimky-Podmoskoye (#11) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
