Regular Season Round 25: Samara-SGEU - Sakhalin 73-82

The game between Top Four teams took place in Samara. 3rd placed host Samara-SGEU (13-7) lost to first ranked Sakhalin (18-2) 82-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Samara-SGEU. Sakhalin dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Samara-SGEU's 22. They outrebounded Samara-SGEU 37-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. International point guard Ivan Savelyev (190-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and international Aleksandr Gudumak (203-93, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 16 points. At the losing side power forward Maxim Krivosheev (207-88) responded with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Alexandr Varnakov (185-92) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Five Sakhalin and four Samara-SGEU players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sakhalin have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Newly promoted Sakhalin maintains first place with 18-2 record. Samara-SGEU at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Univ.Surgut. Sakhalin are looking forward to face TEMP-SUMZ Revda (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Samara-SGEU will play against MBA Moscow and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
