The game in Basel was also quite interesting. Second ranked Monthey (18-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Starwings (8-16). Monthey defeated Starwings 98-88 on Friday. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 54-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Monthey made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Bosnian-Serbian guard Goran Ikonic (196-80, agency: BeoExcell) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). The former international forward Marko Mladjan (205-93) helped adding 28 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Canadian-Polish Murphy Burnatowski (200-90, college: Colgate) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Branislav Kostic (180-94) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Five Monthey and four Starwings players scored in double figures. Monthey have a solid series of four victories in a row. Despite that victory Monthey went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with Geneve Lions. Loser Starwings keep the eighth place with 16 games lost. Monthey will meet at home Geneve Lions (#4) in the next round. Starwings will play against Lugano Tigers (#5) and hope to secure a win.
