Regular Season Round 24: MAFC - Jaszberenyi 96-91

No shocking result in a game in Budapest where eleventh ranked MAFC (8-16) defeated bottom-ranked Jaszberenyi (4-20) 96-91 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 58-46 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. MAFC made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard Deville Smith (183-91, college: Tenn-Martin) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Guard Rashad Anderson (196-83, college: Connecticut) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was center Garrick Sherman (210-90, college: Notre Dame) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Travis Cohn (188-89, college: Jacksonville) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. MAFC moved-up to tenth place, which they share with PVSK Pannon. Loser Jaszberenyi dropped to the bottom. MAFC will face higher ranked Sopron KC (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jaszberenyi will play against Kaposvari (#8) and hope to win that game.
