Regular Season Round 24: Kormend - PVSK Pannon 77-60

There was no surprise when 10th ranked PVSK Pannon (8-16) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Kormend (16-8) 77-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kormend. PVSK Pannon was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded PVSK Pannon 34-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTRGV) who scored 11 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. American point guard Wesley Channels (190-88, college: Austin Peay St.) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Petty is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Kormend players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Serbian guard Marko Popadic (189-89) who recorded 10 points and 4 assists and power forward Tamas Harazin (206-85) added 12 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kormend have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Alba. Loser PVSK Pannon keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. Kormend will face league's leader Szolnok in Szolnok in the next round and it may be the game of the week. PVSK Pannon will play at home against KTE-Duna Aszfalt (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
