The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Tambov's (17-19) home victory over 8th ranked Jaroslav (14-22) 68-62 on Sunday. Tambov made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Tambov outrebounded Jaroslav 42-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. Forward Nikita Gresev (204-88) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Vladislav Solovyev (192-88) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Aleksandr Amelin (184-88) produced 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and power forward Pavel Krykov (210-84) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Tambov have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Tambov maintains seventh position with 17-19 record. Jaroslav lost eighth consecutive game. Jaroslav at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth place with 22 games lost. Tambov will meet at home higher ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jaroslav will play against Sojuz Zaretchny (#11) and hope to secure a win.
