Regular Season Round 40: Samara - Voronezh 76-53

An interesting game for Samara (26-6) which hosted in Samara 4th ranked Voronezh-SKIF (17-15). Second ranked Samara had an easy win 76-53. Samara dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Voronezh-SKIF's 32. Samara forced 21 Voronezh-SKIF turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Yana Matveeva (186-92) who helped to win the game recording 6 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and forward Olga Ovcharenko (185-79) who added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Ekaterina Ilinova (178-95) responded with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Galina Litvinenko (186-83) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Samara keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Dynamo-2 K. Voronezh-SKIF lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 15 games lost. Samara will play against league's leader Dynamo-2 K. in Kursk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Voronezh-SKIF will play on the road against Sparta&K-2 V in Vidnoye and hopes to get back on the winning track.
