Regular Season Round 20: Riva - Bellinzona 73-86
Date: April 1, 2016
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Bellinzona (10-11) beat one of their biggest challengers Riva (11-10) in Riva San Vitale 86-73 on Friday. The game without a history. Bellinzona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 60.3 percent from the field. Bellinzona forced 24 Riva turnovers. Strangely Riva outrebounded Bellinzona 35-18 including 20 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American guard Khaalidah Miller (175-92, college: Georgia) who scored that evening 28 points and the other American import forward Tamara Nesmith (182-91, college: Mount Olive) supported her with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds by American guard Sarah Hansen (178-91, college: FGCU) did not help to save the game for Riva. Canadian power forward Julie Seabrook (190-90, college: Colorado) added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Five Bellinzona and four Riva players scored in double figures. Bellinzona have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 10-11 record. Riva lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with ten games lost. Bellinzona will meet league's leader Fribourg on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Riva will play against Pully and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
